Telehandler Operator- Houston, TX

Position Summary:

The Tele Handler Operator is responsible for the safe loading and unloading of all products shipped in to and out of the facility. They play a key role in the organizing of inventory within the yard, and are fully involved with the shipment schedule. When not operating the Tele Handler, they assist in the shop.

Essential Functions, Major Duties, and/or Accountabilities :

  • Load and unload vehicle product as required while maintaining standard operating procedures
  • Must know the limitations of the vehicles and use of spotters under poor visibility conditions
  • Operate heavy equipment in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life
  • Responsible for reporting all infractions, near misses, and incidents to your supervisor
  • Responsible for fill out personal daily timesheets, pre-job hazard assessments, equipment pre-use inspections
  • Work to health, safety, and environmental standards as they apply to the work process and space
  • Must attend and partake in all pre-job, post job, and monthly safety meetings
  • Must be able to pass training and safety requirements
  • Ensures equipment is maintained and cleaned according to company service and maintenance program
  • Obligation to refuse unsafe work
  • Responsible for wearing all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) per company policy
  • Keeping the workspace and property yard clean, orderly and neat
  • Assisting with shipping, receiving, and storage of materials to include inventory counts
  • Assisting with building containers for packaging of materials
  • Other assigned work as required.

Special Requirements of the Position :

  • Five years’ experience operating loading/unloading equipment and product
  • Experience with routine maintenance operations
  • Able to assess weights and judge distances and heights
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
  • Proficient with a technology smart device
  • Ability to follow direction, remain alert, and maintain a high level of concentration
  • Must be punctual, possess a strong work ethic and have a positive team attitude
  • Knowledge of, or training in, WHMIS and OSSA is considered an asset

  • Must pass a 50lb physical fitness test and Drug & Alcohol screen
