Business Development And Marketing Associate

The Position:

Reporting to the President and Chief Operating Officer, the Business Development and Marketing Associate will play a key role in the business development department generating sales leads, supporting business development and provide executive assistance to the Executive team as required while taking on a front-line role promoting the company and its brand.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop sales leads for the organization:

  • From contacts made during the company’s lunch and learn programs
  • From analyzing online or digital, industry specific publications such as technical magazines and corporate reports, and general market intelligence gathered from all sources
  • From continual review of the various industry or government “bid” sites across North America
  • From internal resources such as sales personnel, site superintendents, project managers and tradeshow participants
  • Conducting continual market research as required

Support the company’s business development activities:

  • Coordination of lunch and learn events, trade shows and other targeted presentations
  • Coordination of individuals related to business development activities including organization of CRM information, scheduling meetings, coordinating travel and other related activities
  • Coordination and acquisition of marketing collateral for sales and business development activities
  • Preparation and upkeep of the various presentation materials used in business development activities
  • Attendance at various tradeshows and events across North America as a representative of the company
  • Maintaining a data base and log of all contact points made by the team
  • Maintain a data base of competitors across North America

Provide executive assistance to the Executive team when required:

  • Preparation of confidential documents such as Board related materials
  • Coordinating meetings and schedules related to the Executive team activities
  • Coordination of travel requirements for the Executive team
  • Preparation of proposals and other documents related to business development activities of the Executive team
  • Assist with the development of marketing materials together with the external creative vendor
  • Assist with the creation of a CRM process for the company

  • Must be able to act as a communication liaison as well as having excellent written communication skills with the ability to write corporate messages for distribution internally and externally
  • Should be a perfectionist at records management
  • Will be required to handle matters and information with discretion and confidentiality
  • Must be able to manage and maintain composure in stressful situations

Qualifications :

  • Business Degree with associated marketing or communications degree or a finance degree would also be considered with the right combination of other credentials. Other degrees may be considered based on their relevancy to the role
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in business development and marketing
  • Prior experience in supporting the C-level of an organization is required
  • Exceptional organizational, negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Prior direct sales experience would be an asset
  • Fluency in French and/or Spanish would be an asset
  • Strong software skills in all Microsoft programs, Adobe, other presentation related software and mainstream CRM programs

Work Conditions:

  • Office environment in Sherwood Park, Alberta head office
  • Irregular hours
  • Ability to travel as needed to attend tradeshows and events (approximately 15-20%)
  • A valid driver’s license and passport
  • Will require travel throughout Canada and USA
  • Will be required to sign both a confidentiality and a non-compete agreement
